Louise is originally from Swindon, Wiltshire but has lived in Cardiff since 1999 after coming to study Theatre and Media Drama at the University of Glamorgan (now University of South Wales).

Louise joined Creu Cymru in May 2020. As Director, she is responsible for devising, developing and leading on a long-term, strategic programme of change for Creu Cymru in partnership with the members, the Board and funders.

Prior to joining Creu Cymru, Louise worked in the Enterprise Team at Cardiff University. Working with a range of internal and external colleagues, she developed and delivered creative ways to build networks, communities and new activities around enterprise and entrepreneurship across the University. Before that Louise worked at UpRising, a youth leadership charity as Senior Programme Manager to design a programme plan, local curriculum and evaluation framework for the Cardiff Leadership Programme and Environmental Leadership Projects aimed at 19-25 year olds from diverse and underrepresented backgrounds.

Louise was a freelance creative producer and consultant specialising in project management, programming and producing. She worked with Angharad Lee and Leeway Productions on a research and development of a new version of Jason Robert Browns’ The Last Five Years, specifically looking at integrating BSL choreography into the production.

As Head of Programming at Wales Millennium Centre, Louise was tasked with the artistic programming in the theatrical spaces, site specific locations on and off site, over 500 free performances a year, festival programming and special projects such as WOW – Women of the World Festival and WMC’s 10th Anniversary highlight event ‘Ar Waith Ar Daith’, which was a large outdoor spectacular with an audience of over 12,000.

She produced and managed the team behind the Centres produced work. This included Igam Ogam, a bilingual touring children’s dance production, The Frozen Scream, a site-specific promenade horror / drama performance co-written by Sarah Waters and Chris Green co-produced with Birmingham Hippodrome, Land of my Fathers by Chris Urch, which toured the UK and A Good Clean Heart co-production with Neontopia.

Louise joined the Centre in June 2004 as a theatre programmer, prior to which she was the Arts Development Officer at the Cwmparc Arts Project in Treorchy where she was responsible for expanding, developing and promoting the use of the Parc Hall Theatre and for delivering a specific performing arts programme offering children, youth and adult arts activities.

She is on the board of UK Theatre and was also previously Chair of Creu Cymru and on the board of WEN Wales and Carlson Dance Company.

Louise lives in Cardiff with her wife and son. In her spare time Louise is a keen baker and game show fan!
