Job info:
Hours Required: 30 per week
Pro rata salary: £36,615.00 (4 days a week / 30 hours a week)
Remuneration: Pro-rata of the substantive Theatre & Arts Service Manager post (but on a freelance contract).
Terms of Engagement: From as soon as possible in October through to 31st January 2025 (possibly longer to be negotiated).
The recently published proposal from Caerphilly CBC has meant an intense spotlight on the current venue and arts development teams who, since mid-July, have been operating without their usual on site, relevantly experienced and senior manager.
A manager is being sought with all the usual demands of a very busy autumn season. We would like to secure quickly somebody on a freelance contract basis who could fill the void (albeit in a temporary fashion) working 30 hours flexible per week (so the hours on site can chime in with business peaks and troughs including presence on certain performance night).
Essential characteristics / requirements of the post:
1. Crisis and change management specialist with appropriate arts industry/venue/ arts development experience.
2. A self-starter with excellent person management skills, experienced at working with a range of specialist staff and able to be the conduit for them to express themselves appropriately to more senior responsible staff off site
3. Excellent motivator and ability to lead and empower staff whilst offering appropriate pastoral care.
4. Experienced in communications with the ability to respond well to challenges and the ability to deliver “difficult” messages when required.
5. To be the lead person managing the BMI relationship with Arts Council of Wales, Creu Cymru and other relevant bodies and stakeholders.
6. To be an experienced budget holder – particularly with Local Authority or equivalent experience.
7. To have an understanding of how the venue operates in a local, community and county wide context. To be familiar with the Welsh arts sector.
