Are you a performing arts practitioner in Wales working either freelance or for an organisation? Do you face challenges supporting your parent and carer workforce, or struggle managing caring responsibilities yourself?  We’re launching an exciting new programme, funded by the Arts Council of Wales, designed to bring real change in making the performing arts in Wales a more family-friendly employer – and we need your voice!

About the Programme

In collaboration with Creu Cymru, Theatre Clwyd, Wales Millennium Centre, and National Dance Company Wales, we’re launching an entry-level change-makers programme. This initiative aims to:

  • Raise awareness of the challenges faced by parents and carers.
  • Develop strategies to support caregivers in the Welsh performing arts.
  • Build a network that will shape a family-friendly future for the sector.

The programme is free and aligned with Arts Council of Wales' priorities of transformation and nurturing talent and will adapt lessons from our successful work in England and Scotland.

What’s in It for You?

By joining, you’ll be part of a working group that meets online five times to develop strategies tailored for Wales. You’ll:

  • Shape family-friendly policies in the arts.
  • Develop resources for more inclusive working practices
  • Share challenges and learning in online working groups
  • Participate in action research to pinpoint specific needs in the Welsh sector.
  • Network and share experiences with peers across the UK.

The programme will culminate in an in-person event at the Creu Cymru Conference in April 2025, where we share learning with the wider sector, launching a roadmap for the future of support for parents and carers in the Welsh arts community.

Join us for the launch and help shape the programme in Wales.
