Sarah Horner, CEO, joined Cardiff-based inclusive theatre company Hijinx in October 2019 leading Hijinx’s mission to make it commonplace to see actors with learning disabilities and/or autism on our stages and screens. Prior to this Sarah was Head of Marketing and Communications for BBC National Orchestra of Wales.
Hijinx strive for equality by making outstanding art with learning disabled and/or autistic actors; on stage, on screen, on the street, in the workplace locally, nationally and internationally. They create strikingly different performances and are acclaimed for their award-winning theatre productions, community projects and communications training.
During her 12 years at BBC NOW, Sarah was influential in driving audience development and engagement activity, increasing awareness of the orchestra’s work in Wales and internationally; including ambitious projects linked to tours in South America, China and Europe. She led a programme of activity to celebrate the orchestra’s 90th anniversary, and brought innovative new platforms to their work, including the introduction of live streamed concerts and VR experiences.
